Hope I didn't snub anyone. Obviously players must be 23 and under to make the team. Enjoy...
23 and Under 1st Team
Andre Drummond C 23 6'11'' 275 A D+ C- B A- B
17.6 ppg 13.4 rpg 3.7 bpg
Drummond is an absolute stud. He leads the 28-8 Detroit Pistons. There is not a single weakness in his game aside from poor free throw shooting. The number one pick from a few years ago has lived up to expectations.
Tony Farmer PF 22 6'11'' 257 A- C C A- A B
21.3 ppg 12.2 rpg 1.1 spg 1.6 bpg
Farmer is a well rounded PF on a much improved OKC Thunder. A terrific scorer, and rebounder isn't far from being a regular on the all-star team. Farmer could head the 2019 free agency class.
Shabazz Muhammad SF 23 6'7'' 220 B+ A- C+ A- B+ B
24.1 ppg 8.7 rpg 3.6 apg 2.6 spg 1.4 topg
The Prophet Muhammad has been one of the best players in the league this season, let alone under 23. He's got the Celtics sitting on top with the best record in the league. Tremendous offense, great rebounding, leads the league in steals, and turns the ball over less than 1.5 times a game.... couldn't ask for more.
Nolan Hays SG 21 6'8'' 223 A- A- C B+ C- A
30.0 ppg 5.7 rpg 3.1 apg 1.9 spg
Hays is a tremendous scorer who shoots unbelievable percentages. The Warriors also have Antonio Prince, another young stud on the perimeter to form the best "Under 23" combination in the league.
Kasey Hill PG 23 6'5'' 185 C+ A+ A+ B+ C A
27.5 ppg 5.9 rpg 10.1 apg 2.2 spg 1.5 topg
Kasey Hill is arguably the most valuable player in the league, and rightfully so. The Blazers have been on a tear and in large part to Hill's fantastic season. Alike the Prophet Muhammed, he does everything at an extremely high level while turning the ball over 1.5 times a game. With 5 years left on his contract, it's possible Hill might not wear a jersey other than Portland's for a long long time.
23 and Under All Defense Team
Andre Drummond C 23 6'11'' 275 A D+ C- B A- B
17.6 ppg 13.4 rpg 3.7 bpg
While it would be nice to put a new name, I couldn't deny Drummond his position on the All Defense Team. With 3.7 bpg he's not even number one on his own team to Nnanna Egwu (24) at 4.1 bpg. This duo combines to swat nearly 8 shots a game and will be clogging up the paint for years to come.
Kennedy Meeks PF 21 6'11'' 259 B- C- D+ A- B B
27.1 mpg 5.8 ppg 8.1 rpg 3.2bpg
Meeks is listed at center, however is shotblocking ability is hard to ignore. The lack of a great defensive PF played in a role in his selection as well. Blocking over 3 shots a game in 27 minutes per game is quite impressive, in starter minutes he'd easily lead the league. Very impressive for a rookie, look for him to become a defender to fear.
Shabazz Muhammad SF 23 6'7'' 220 B+ A- C+ A- B+ B
24.1 ppg 8.7 rpg 3.6 apg 2.6 spg 0.2 1.4 topg
Not only does Muhammad lead the league in steals, but he is the only player not listed at PG or SG to be in the top ten. Easy choice here.
Antonio Prince SG 21 6'7'' 187 C+ A C- A C- A
31.4 18.6 4.8 3.1 1.3 0.4 0.8
Prince is literally Warriors' Nolan Hays wing man ,but he gets the start at SG today for the 23 and Under All-Defense team. At 6 foot 7 and "A" defense Hays is a nightmare for opposing players. The future looks bright in Golden State. Rocket's Ricard Ledo got consideration here, but I couldn't put someone with a B- rating on the team.
Bryson Scott PG 22 6'3'' 185 B- C+ B- A C B
12.0 ppg 6.3 rpg 8.8 apg 2.6 spg
The OKC Thunder selected them with the 17th pick and immediately through him into the mix after a great training camp. While Scott needs to work on many aspects of his game including high turnovers, he does play stellar defense. He is tied for the league lead in steals in only his rookie season.
Under 23 2nd Team
Isaiah Austin C 23 7'2'' 260 B+ C- C B- A B
13.9 ppg 14.1 rpg 1.0 spg 1.0 bpg
Austin needs to drastically improve his defense and he will be regarded as one of the best big men in the league.
Chace Cabrera PF 21 6'8'' 223 B B- C+ C+ A- A
33.4 15.8 ppg 11.8 rpg 3.8 apg 0.7 0.6 bpg
Cabrera's backup Jabari Parker could battle for this position next year. Chase needs to continue to improve in several areas of his game.
Antonio Prince SF 21 6'7'' 187 C+ A C- A C- A
18.6 ppg 4.8 rpg 3.1 apg 1.3 spg 0.8 topg
Despite being listed at SG, prince has started at SF for the majority of the year. Could use some improvement in handle and rebounding, but a more than solid player.
Ricardo Ledo SG 23 6'8'' 210 B A C B- D+ B
21.1 ppg 4.6 rpg 3.1 apg 1.8 spg 1.9 topg
Jeremy Hollowell got consideration here as well. While Ledo does grab a good amount of steals his overall defense is sub-par. Needs improvement to become a star in the league.
Bryson Scott PG 22 6'3'' 185 B- C+ B- A C B
12.0 ppg 6.3 rpg 8.8 apg 2.6 spg
Kevin Ferrell got consideration here but was too raw and had terrible percentages in limited minutes. A lack of young talent at the position favors Scott here.
