It's bullshit. You're handcuffing both yourself and a potentially different GM with moves like this. It isn't even like your team is the Knicks with 4 stars you can use to get your picks back. You just take away all your flexibility moving forward with moves like this.

1sts for proven veterans is a very broken economic system and always has been. 75% of player drafted in the 1st suck and you just have to pay them 3M for 4 seasons. Or even worse, you draft Kyrie Irving and he busts and is your back-up PG in season 3 of his career. I hate the draft and raindancing for potential. And I've been very consistent with this in my 9 years of sim leagues. Just go look at what styro got for JRich. I will always write blank 1st rounder checks for proven vets I want. |

No one said you had to bank your entire franchise on a pick.. But you are fucking over not just yourself but also any other GM who takes your place. If something came up and you had to be replaced, what if the next GM doesn't carry such radical views about the draft? Why should he have to go a decade with a pick?

Then the new GM could either have a 12-6 team or trade the star players on the roster for the picks back. If my team blew and I didn't have any players of value, it would be a different story.
