Centers:
Tommy Hamilton Jr. C 7'1'' 280 21 B- D C- B- B- A -
Hamilton comes out of Illinois as a definite candidate for the number one pick. He has nice post skills, though he could use some work, and is quite strong. His range is awful though…his lack of FT shooting will hurt him. He isn’t a great shot blocker, pretty much average at best, if not below average, but it could develop in time. Scouts love his potential though, and he should be an excellent player, with the possibility of multiple all star games.
Kennedy Meeks C 6'11'' 259 21 C+ C- D+ B B- A-
Meeks is a pretty prototypical defensive style Center, however, he has a pretty glaring weakness……he is not strong at all, and that could hurt him at the next level. His big strength, and what has many scouts drooling is his absolutely jaw dropping shot blocking abilities. If you go at the rim weakly, expect the ball to be sent into the third row. Offensively I wouldn’t expect him to become great, but, given work on his rebounding he could be a very good defensive Center.
Beejay Anya C 6'11'' 245 22 B- C- C- B- C A-
His athleticism is outstanding, and leads most to believe he has the ability to be an all star caliber player, however, others see a player so raw at 22 that he wont ever become an all around player, as despite his potential, he has just too far to go, especially when his severe rebounding deficiency is taken into account. His post offense is worrisome, but his positional D is solid. Picking Anya would be risking on his upside panning out, but he could pay off big dividends.
Tyler Coger C 7'1'' 260 22 C+ C+ F+ B C+ A-
Coger has absolutely no desire to pass the ball. His strength is average, his post moves are a bit meh, but, he has range. His jump shot is solid, and he can step out and knock down the open three. He is a very nice post defender as well. Could be a pretty solid player, but there are questions about his overall game at the next level.
Power Forwards:
Jabari Parker PF 6'9'' 247 22 B- C+ B- B B- A-
Parker is the second possible number one, coming out of the same Illinois team that Hamilton did, and the two of them were a very formidable post duo. He has a bit more raw overall than Hamilton, but has more athleticism, is a very nice passer and has range to his shot. He isn’t really great at anything though, which is why Hamilton could go first. Parker has the ability to block and steal, and is pretty fast and has excellent passing skills. Parker will need a year or two to develop, as he is still quite raw, but, he has great upside, and could easily become a many time all star. Parker is only allowed to play PF/C
Austin Colbert PF 6'10'' 239 22 C+ C C C+ A- A
Rebounding, and three point range are Colbert’s selling points, he will come in as an already starter quality rebounder. He doesn’t block shots though, and his offense is meh at best in the post, but, he has nice upside.
Julius Randle PF 6'11'' 250 21 B D D+ C+ B- A
Randle is also athletic as hell, with a surprising quickness for his size. He can block shots, though he is not a stud by any means, and he is decent strength wise. His range is poor and his offense is raw though, very raw. There are worries about his handles in the post, he can get careless with the ball. Great Upside, but he may be too raw to develop well.
Aaron Gordon PF 6'8'' 247 21 B+ D- C- C+ C+ A
Gordon has an amazing set of post moves considering he will be just a rookie. Its too bad the rest of his game is SO mediocre. He has pretty much no range, and he is just average at rebounding. His strength is below average, and his D is lacking. He could be an excellent post scorer, but the rest of his game is a worry.
Jonathan Williams PF 6'10'' 215 22 B C+ D+ C+ C+ A-
Williams is pretty average as an athlete, but, he shows a very nice outside shot, especially his midrange game. He wont block or steal, and his rebounding is just average, but he is a nice post defender. He could have turnover worries.
Small Forwards:
Collin Hartman SF 6'8'' 190 22 C B+ C- B+ C A-
Hartman is very strong for his 6’8” 190 pound frame, but is just an average athlete. Reminds many people of Antonio Prince, only without the same upside. His outside stroke is solid, and he is a very solid positional defender, but he doesn’t have as much upside on offense as Prince was seen to.
Ishmael Wainwright SF 6'7'' 200 21 B+ C- B+ C+ C A-
Wainwright is pretty much the opposite of Hartman. His outside game is very poor, and his D is meh, but he is a very nice passer, and his inside game is very nice. He has range to only about 18 feet, and is just a solid rebounder at best for the SF position. He could struggle a bit with turnovers as well. He is pretty quick though, and should be able to handle SG there some.
Sindarius Thornwell SF 6'5'' 220 21 A- C C- B C B-
Thornwell is a heck of a lot like Michael Gilchrist no? Only problem is he doesn’t show the upside of Gilchrist at all. He plays nice perimeter D, and is great inside and quite athletic, but, he isn’t all that quick, and just never put it all together at Penn State. Questions about his desire have led to a devaluing of his draft stock, and things only continued when he showed up to draft workouts out of shape. Motivation is the big question worrying scouts.
Marc Loving SF 6'9'' 220 22 B C C- B+ B- B-
Loving is pretty solid, and has all the tools to be a nice role player starter, however, he has struggled with turnovers. Otherwise he is athletic, he plays solid positional D, is quick, but, he also has no range when it comes to the three point line. He isn’t overly impressive at anything really either, which hurts his stock, and he hasn’t shown the ability to be a great player…just nice.
Shooting Guards:
Andrew Harrison SG 6'7'' 225 21 C+ C C- A B- A-
Defense anybody? Cause that is what Harrison provides, and boy is he ever good at it. He can handle SG and SF with ease and can even match up against PF’s if necessary, he wont be a liability. He doesn’t block shots, but he shows an excellent awareness as to the balls location, and is great at stealing without leaving himself out of position. His offense is a bit raw…he isn’t the most athletic player, and struggles some with his range for sure, but, he is a plus rebounder easily at SG. He and his twin, Aaron would love to end up on the same team.
Keith Frazier SG 6'5'' 180 22 C A- C B- D+ A
Shooter with an excellent three point shot. However, he struggles to create for himself due to a lack of athleticism and skill inside, and has problems with turnovers. He has an excellent work ethic however, which has scouts thinking he could be a nice player, but probably never more than a nice starter. Pretty solid perimeter defender, and he isn’t hopeless stealing, though he isn’t great.
Chris Thomas SG 6'6'' 195 21 B B+ C- C D+ A-
Chris Thomas is a scorer extraordinaire. His defense is meh, he doesn’t pass the ball well, but he takes great care of the ball, has nice outside shooting skills, uses his strength and athleticism to get inside, and shows a great skill for scoring, one that has scouts in love with him. His upside as a scorer is excellent, his upside as an overall player…far less so.
Aaron Harrison SG 6'7'' 225 21 B C+ C+ B- C- A
The most well rounded SG in this draft is also probably the best. He is inconsistent from outside still, as he tends to settle for off balance jumpers, but he scores well inside and is a solid passer. He is nowhere near the rebounder that his twin is, but is more athletic. His strengthg is a bit lacking, but he is a nice passer, and pretty solid defender as well positionally, though he doesn’t steal at all. Aaron would love to be on the same team as Andrew.
Point Guards:
Stevie Clark PG 5'11'' 170 21 B+ C- C+ C+ D- B-
Clark has an excellent inside game, which is surprising as a PG, but, he is pretty weak, and his outside game is scary, he doesn’t shoot FT’s well, and he falls in love with the three a bit too much. He steals well, but struggles with his handles. His weaknesses combined probably limit his upside to not very good, but with special focus maybe he becomes solid.
Bryson Scott PG 6'3'' 185 22 B C C+ A C B-
Bryson is an excellent defender, and rebounder, lets get the obvious out of the way right now. He is an absolute terror when it comes to controlling the ball anywhere around him, his knack for steals is as good as any player probably in the league now…not Draft, but LEAGUE. He gets inside well, but his lack of range is a hinderance and he really isn’t a great passer, which hurts his upside. He could be a very nice backup PG/SG, but as a pure PG its tough to see him on a contending team, he would need some help right out of the gate…he gets pushed around due to a lack of strength and struggles a little with his handles….which though not uncorrectable would have to be addressed quickly.
Nigel Williams-Goss PG 6'3'' 180 22 B- B- B- C D+ A -
Goss is the crown jewel for tanking teams…A good looking PG, though he struggles with defense He handles the ball pretty well, and though he is not an amazing athlete (he‘ll be beat by faster PG‘s pretty easily), he makes up for it with better than average strength for a PG and a solid inside game. His outside game is decent, with a nice three point shot, and his passing is solid as well. He could be a very nice PG, but at 22 he may be a bit too raw.
Solomon Poole PG 6'2'' 180 22 C C B- B D+ A-
Poole will never be a scorer, but he takes amazing care of the ball and has good defensive skills. His steals arent gonna be amazing, his three point range is poor, but he has a solid jump shot. A nice Pure PG type for a team in need of a game manager rather than a ball dominator.
