Hello fellow worthy GM's and Marty. Welcome to the 2nd edition of Powerpolls. This week we had 7 contributing GMs. I'd like to thank them for their hard work, dedication and relentless research in the quest for the ultimate powerpolls!
Without further ado, lets get it started.
1. Indiana Pacers (69 Votes, 6 First Place)
The dominant team in the toughest division. The Pacers have lit up the UOSL season on the back of MVP candidate Dirk Nowitzki and his sidekick Tim Duncan...This formidable frontcourt has also been paired with a talented backcourt with Steve Nash running shotgun and destroying any preseason ideas that he was finished. The Pacers could do with another scorer on the wing to lighten the burden on the big boys but at the moment this team is getting it done.
2. Orlando Magic (63 votes, 1 FP)
The Magic are the Atlantic's leading contending and with Kobe Bryant rewinding the tape back to his MVP days, the Magic are a worthy foe. Chris Bosh has shown he is no longer a laughing joke but rather an effective post scoring machine. Emeka Okafor has been huge for this ball club and he will be arguably the X-factor going into the second half of the season.
3. Denver Nuggets (56 votes)
Easily the best team in the west the Nuggets have opened a 7 game lead on their closest division rivals. The time to win for this team is now and they have set themselves up for the top seed in the west. Questions remain however...Will Zach Randolph be this good in the playoffs? and can the old man legs of Marcus Camby, Manu Ginobolli and Stephen Jackson carry this teams momentum over the next 60 days? We will wait and see I guess.
4. Charlotte Bobcats (42 votes)
A surprising team that really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. Chris Paul is leading this team in a way few could.Ranked 6th in scoring, 5th in assists and 2nd in steals, Paul is doing EVERYTHING for this team. However his backcourt partner in Kevin Martin is also having a solid year and could be a killer as we head into the stretch. With LaMarcus Aldridge on the block it will be interesting to see if the Bobcats can improve this team and if so watch out!
5. San Antonio Spurs (38 Votes)
Dwight Howard has quieten down since his preseason outburst but fortunately for the Spurs the scoring slack has been picked up by Brandon '2 shot knees' Roy. A good solid team that would be unstoppable if they could find Howard a legit Power Forward to match with him. Get on to it Sage!
6. Boston Celtics (33 votes)
To be honest, I'm surprised to see this team ranked so high. Seeded 7th in the east the Celtics have been riding the Gravy Train of Carlos Boozer, Vince Carter and Gerald Wallace...seriously. Raymond Felton has developed into a worthy starting point guard and this team will be hoping its ability to do a little bit of ever thing will result in this ball club having no flaws.
7. Washington Wizards (30 votes)
A 9-1 stretch has seen this team race up the standings. On the back of my favorite backcourt in the league, Monta Ellis and Dwayne Wade, the wizards have figured out how best to utilize two superstars in such close proximity. The Wizards could still do with a legitimate threat up front but on the right night this team could outscore anyone.
8. Philadelphia 76ers (20 votes)
Shaq is back! 19 ppg, 11rpg! Shaq-verson (his new Philly nickname) has been the monster that has unleashed the fire in the belly of Baron Davis, Tyreke Evans and Josh Smih. This team can do anything. Good enough to beat everyone but not convincing enough to change the perception that this team is still a middle of the road playoff team. A dangerous squad but are they dangerous enough to win a 7 game playoff series.
9. New York Knicks (16 votes)
A little low given their current standings but the Knicks are now in no mans land. Too many wins to be a lotto team and now not enough stars to be a factor in the playoffs. Its lucky Outlawz knows what he is doing. I wouldn't be writing this team off just yet, I'm sure their is a rabbit struggling for air in a hat somewhere near by Madison Square Garden
10. Cleveland Cavaliers (10 votes)
My preseason favorite has disappointed so far. Ranked 8th in the east the Cavs are not getting what they need from Jason Kidd and Ray Allen. Lebron James is destroying most teams and Kevin Garnett and Chris Kamen are exceeding expectations but this team really needs to re jig its backcourt. Jason Kidd, you are finished.
Others Receiving Votes: Utah Jazz (6 votes), LA Laker's (1), Houston Rockets (1)
Contributing GMs: Thunder, Broph, Spurs, Bucks, Suns, Kings, Clippers.
Check back again for the end of season Powerpolls on Day 120.
