Point Guards:
Myck Kabongo PG 6'3" 190 21 B C- B+ C+ D+ B-Kabongo has a very nice inside game, able to get to the rim and score at will, or kick out to the open wing. He is quite quick, which is good, since he needs it to get inside…he cant shoot from range at all. He tends to play out of control, leading to turnover problems, and its questionable he will be able to play a significant role at the next level due to this combined with his lack of a outside game.
Josiah Turner PG 6'4" 183 21 B+ D+ C+ B- D B-Turner is the best inside scorer in this draft, doesn’t matter whether its Centers, Power Forwards, etc…Turner can get to the hoop at will. He is weak, not particularly quick, and scouts are definitely down on his Point guard skills, and his outside game is nonexistent, but, his inside game is unmatched.
B.J. Young PG 6'2" 170 21 B- C+ C+ C+ D+ A-Young is quite raw. Though he too can score pretty well inside fairly well. He isn’t particularly athletic, and his outside game is a bit weak. He is a nice positional defender, but does have some turnover problems.
Shooting Guards:
Brad Beal SG 6'3" 180 21 C+ B C B C- A-Beal is a very well rounded player. He is an excellent defender, with a solid jump shot, decent quickness. Scouts think he has pretty good upside and should be a pretty good starter in time.
Sheldon McClellan SG 6'6" 195 21 C B+ C+ B C+ A-McLellan is an intriguing Shooting Guard. He is pretty strong, but not athletic at all. His Defense is outstanding, but isn’t going to show up on any stat sheets really. He is a good rebounder, and a very good shooter especially from three., but probably isn’t ever going to be a good option. Oh and he is an excellent passer. Scouts love his upside and he should be a very nice player.
P.J. Hairston SG 6'4" 230 22 B+ C- D+ B+ D+ A-Scouts love Hairstons game. He isn’t a passer, but is a very good defender, and though he doesn’t steal, he will block shots. He takes care of the ball well, and is an excellent inside scorer. He takes good care of the ball as well. However, he is not an outside shooter, his range goes to about 18 feet then stops. Hairston should be a very good player if you can ignore his outside shooting deficiency.
Ricardo Ledo SG 6'7" 210 20 B B- C- B- D+ A-Ledo is the second of the possible #1 quality players in this draft, and probably will end up going #1 overall, though its debatable. He is pretty solid all around, he can steal a bit, is a nice scorer already with a developing 3 point shot and a decent jumper. Scouts think he should be a very good player and very well could be a first team all league player.
Small Forwards:
LeBryan Nash SF 6'7" 215 B C C- B C+ B-LeBryan Nash is another High Flyer, and will be in the Slam Dunk Contest for years to come, he is a solid defender, but nothing overly flashy, probably no better than a role player, as his game is a bit meh outside his outstanding leaping skills.
Adonis Thomas SF 6'8" 200 21 B- B- B- B- B- C-Thomas had all the makings of a high pick, but, after declaring for the draft doctors noted that his knees are extremely worrisome…he has no Meniscus in either knee and has been hiding the fact that he has been playing in pain for most of his career. There is no surgery to fix it at this time, and so the question is whether Thomas can play through the pain and be the same player he showed his first few years. If he is teams are in for a well rounded player who can handle PG/SG/SF/PF/C (PG rule still applies). Outside his lack of stats defensively, he has no weakness….but he also has no real strengths.
Branden Dawson SF 6'6" 220 22 B D+ D+ C+ B+ B-Is an undersized PF, type player, but he really cant handle playing post defense. He is pretty athletic, and an excellent rebounding SF, with strength that is impressive for his size. Dawson isn’t a great defender, however, he has an excellent knack for stealing. Scouts question whether his game will find a place at the next level though.
Rodney Hood SF 6'8" 195 21 B+ C+ C- C C A-Hood is an athletic Marvel, he can jump through the roof, and is very quick. He is also very very Raw despite being 21. He has a nice Jump shot, but isn’t a great 3 point shooter. He can be a bit careless with the ball, and is not going to get you any steals or blocks. He has very nice potential, but is so raw its questionable whether he develops into anything more than a dunk contest participant.
Power Forwards:
Anthony Davis PF 6'10" 237 22 B- C C- B+ B- B- has solid range to his shot, extending out to three point range, and is quite good defensively. He has long arms, and has quick hands and feet, making him an ok shot blocker, but a very nice steals guy. At 22 Davis’s upside is a bit questionable. Still a solid pick anywhere from late lotto to mid first round though.
Khem Birch PF 6'9" 231 21 B- D+ D A- C+ A-is Raw, his offense is a big time work in progress, as he is mainly just athletic. Defensively though Birch stands out. He is a good help defender, and uses his athleticism to make him a very nice shot blocker. His rebounding is just average, and he is a bit weak for the position. Birchs is athletic enough to succeed at the next level, and has very good potential, but, he is very Raw and therefore will need patience from whoever drafts him.
Cody Zeller PF 6'10" 235 21 B B- D+ C+ B- B-Zeller is a very rangy PF, however, unlike many rangy PF’s he also has a nice back to the basket game. He isn’t really much of a shot blocker, and is only mediocre when it comes to rebounding. He does struggle with foul trouble as well, and is in now way capable of handling the SF position. Scouts question whether Zellers game will translate well to the next level however, and he hasn’t shown a great work ethic, making his upside a bit questionable.
Johnny O'Bryant PF 6'10" 260 22 B D- D- C+ A- B-O’Bryant is probably, actually, is the best rebounded in this draft. He has an excellent feel for where the ball will end up, and has the strength to force his way to the spot. His offense is still raw, mainly based off of overpowering opposing bigs, which may not work so well at the next level, and it can lead to foul trouble. He is a horrific Free throw shooter, and a mediocre defender. Not going to block shots either. O’Bryant will probably be a starter though due to his excellent rebounding.
Centers:
[/i][/u][/center]Dajuan Coleman C 6'10'' 303 20 B- C- D B+ B B-Coleman is a pretty standard Center, he can block shots, rebound, and is fairly strong. However, he has struggled with his fitness, and it has held him back and worries scouts for the next level. His offense is still a bit raw as well, but if he is willing to work, he could be a very good player
Isaiah Austin C 7'2'' 255 20 B C- C- C A- A-Austin may well be your #1 pick….however it depends on whether you can look past his poor defense…specifically his lack of shot blocking. He is freakishly quick for being 7’2, though he can be out of control at times due to it. He has average strength at this point, and is an excellent rebounder. Scouts love his potential and while its likely he will never be a good defender, he could become an amazing scoring rebounding big.
