Goldberg is the most overrated wrestler of all time. Couldn't work, couldn't cut a promo, he just had this aura about him - they just gave him a huge win streak because they were too stupid to build stars the right way. Sounds like he is a huge asshole in real life too.
Might catch RAW tonight, not sure yet.

He wasn't meant to be able to cut promos. It was genius by WCW at the time. They brought in one jacked dude, no frills, just plain black trunks and only uttered the words "you're next", but made him dominate opponents with his power. That was his character and the whole point of him. He was just meant to come in, spear, jackhammer, you're next, done. And it worked. WWE ruined his character by trying to change his selling points, making him speak on the mic, and try to go for long drawn out matches. Was never going to work. That Goldberg - Brock match with Austin as ref was soooooooooooo horrible. Having said that Goldberg was never meant to be one of the greats, he was just meant to fill a niche which he did. |
