UOSL4 2011 Mock Draft
Here is a look at the first annual amateur to pro UOSL4 Draft!
1. Miami Heat - Harrison Barnes SF 6'8'' 215 19 B- B- C B- C+ A
The Miami Heat need a franchise player. They have some nice young youth in Ekpe Udoh, Paul George and even Ty Lawson and Courtney Lee. What they don’t have is that elite scorer that can put the team on his shoulders and win games night to night. In Harrison Barnes the Heat get that type of talent. Barnes is a very good scorer that not only loves to drive to the basket, but can shoot from long range. Barnes is also an impressive defender and a plus rebounder for a wing.
Projected Ratings… A- A- C A- B
2. Portland Trail Blazers – Kyrie Irving PG 6'2'' 170 19 C+ B- B B- D+ A
The Blazers already have a couple of really impressive youngsters in Evan Turner and Demar Derozan. They also have a pretty good young post big man in Paul Millsap. This allows the Blazers to just take the player that best fits with this already impressive core. Because of this, Kyrie Irving at this point is a no brainer. Irving is the best PG prospect in this draft and he should be an absolute stud. Irving is a very good passer, and improving offensive player. In his prime he should be a 20 and 10 PG.
Projected Ratings… B- A A A C-
3. Toronto Raptors - Terrance Jones SF 6'8'' 220 19 B- C C- B- B- A
The Raptors already have a pair of very impressive young post players in Javale McGee and Kevin Love. They also have a franchise PG in Brandon Jennings. Now they just need to add some wings. If you’re looking for a SF it doesn’t get much better then Terrance Jones. Jones is an athletic combo forward that can score inside, board and rebound. Jones needs to work on his outside shot but even if he only becomes a mediocre jump shooter he should be a very good UOSL player.
Projected Ratings… A- C+ C A- B
4. Phoenix Suns - Donatas Motiejunas PF 7'0'' 224 21 C+ B D+ C+ C+ A
The Suns have a great young PG in Rajon Rondo and a very good young C in Al Horford. They also have some nice wing prospects, but none of them are sure things. This leaves them able to pick from almost any position with their biggest need being a go to scorer. Donatas Montiejunas might not play enough defense to stay at PF, but regardless of where he plays he should score. Montiejunas is a decent post player, but he excels as a jump shooter with range out beyond the UOSL 3 point line. Suns are very lucky to get such a good young offensive prospect at 4th overall.
Projected Ratings… B B+ C- B B
5. Memphis Grizzlies - Derrick Williams PF 6'9'' 240 20 B C D+ C+ C+ A
The Grizzlies have a great young 1st option scorer in Eric Gordon and a nice young post scoring prospect in DeMarcus Cousins. Ideally theyd add a nice young PG here, instead they take Derrick Williams who should fit in great at either PF or SF. Williams is a bit undersized for an ideal PF, but he should be able to score and board enough to get on the floor somewhere. Williams is a very nice pick right here and should be part of the Grizzlies core for years to come.
Projected Ratings… A- C C- B B
6. Los Angeles Clippers - Jonas Valanciunas C 7'1'' 240 19 B D+ D C+ C+ A
The Clippers already have a ton of young talent. They have Centers, Forwards and Guards with youth and big upside. This gives them the ability to just choose whoever looks best to them. In my opinion they take Jonas Valanciunas here. JV is a big time post scorer who has great size and good strength. He isn’t the defensive monster you’d want ideally and he doesn’t block shots but its so rare to find a big time post scorer. The Clippers just cant pass this kind of talent up.
Projected Ratings… A- D+ D+ B B
7. Atlanta Hawks - Enes Kanter C 6'11'' 261 19 B- D D- C+ B- A
The Hawks have a young stud post scorer in Blake Griffin and two super young guards in James harden and Darren Collison. Building off of these 3 the Hawks could really use a big time defensive center and a nice two way small forward. Enes Kanter isn’t a big time defender, but he has so much raw talent at the C spot it’d be impossible for Atlanta to pass on him. Kanter is a solid scorer and rebounder who has big time upside and should one day be one of the better centers around.
Projected Ratings… B+ D D B+ B+
8. Golden State Warriors (from Oklahoma City Thunder) - Evan Fournier SG 6'6'' 190 21 C+ B- C+ B- D+ A
9. Golden State Warriors - Jared Sullinger PF 6'9'' 285 19 B+ D+ D C+ B- B
The Warriors have acquired depth and picks, but no future UOSL4 stars. They’d hope to land one here at either 8 or 9. The Warriors are pretty set up front with 3 very good young players in Marc Gasol, Andray Blatche and Dejuan Blair. In the backcourt they are weak, which is why van Fournier makes a ton of sense. Fournier is a big time talent with solid scoring skills and very good handling skills. Fournier should be a solid SG that can do a little bit of everything and share the ball. At 9 the Warriors add to their post man strength with Jared Sullinger. Sullinger is a polished post scorer that should come in and make a big impact right away.
Projected Ratings… B- A- B- A- C- and A- D+ D+ B- B+
10. Milwaukee Bucks – John Jenkins SG 6'4'' 215 20 C+ B+ D+ C D A
The Bucks have 2 great young players in Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo. Both can score and should be a nice core for the Bucks in the future. Here at 10 they add John Jenkins who is a sharp shooter who has range out to 25 feet. Jenkins should be a very nice 2nd or 3rd option and fit right between Mayo and Gay in the starting lineup.
