The Bobcats were auto picked but they could not have drafted a better player. Colbert looks to be a stud as shown with his +4/-1 TC while maintaining that A potential. Inside, Handles, & Defense all saw improvements while his rebounding declined slightly but he’s a PG and rebounding is capped regardless. In preseason he posted over 23 PPG but his assists are low at the moment and damn look at those steals. Colbert should have no problem being named Rookie of the Year. Cory looks to make an immediate impact in Charlotte but this team still needs a lot of work.

The Houston Rockets organization was late to the draft and almost was auto picked as well. Instead they picked Seth Radejevic, SG, as the second pick. Considering he was the second pick his TC was not overly impressive. Seth maintained all of his ratings while also increasing his defense by +1. It is still early for this up and coming player, his notes said star and we shall see. In preseason he showed some promise. In 28 minutes of playing time he recorded just less than 12 PPG and grabbing a decent amount of rebounds for a wing player. Two categories are some what troubling, turnovers@ 3.3 and FG% @ 39%. Seth may have to start for the Rockets because of the lack of depth at that position.

Shaun Lyles was drafted at the 3rd spot and is just 18 years of age. According to Lyles notes he is a risk for a draftee but could put it all together. He is on the right track to doing so by going +3 in TC. Shaun improved his handles, defense and rebounding. His offensive game still looks raw but could improve just as his other categories have. Lyle did not play a great deal of minutes in preseason but showed he could contribute to the team. The most impressive aspect of his game so far are his %’s. FG% @ 60% and 3PT% @ 75%, lol.

Nuggets selected a Center with the 4th pick in Absimov Olsen. Olsen saw minimal changes in TC with his rebounding going +1, his scouted potential -1, and all other categories remaining stagnant. I do like his defense but would like to see more blocked shots on the stat line. In due time he should produce more but right now his steals are a nice add. In preseason Absimov looked good and produced over 8 PPG in 17 minutes of play while also grabbing over 4 RPG. His sub 1 turnovers are also nice but keep in mind it is only in 17 minutes.

Damian Daniels was selected in the 5th spot by the Suns. Wow, what a TC this kid had going +5/-1 while keeping that A scouted. Daniels saw his biggest improvement in his outside shot and on the other side of that saw his rebounding decrease slightly. His preseason was not overly impressive, scoring 10 points in 35 MPG as well as grabbing less than 6 rebounds. His 4 assists are a nice touch. Daniels scoring attributes are already very nice just waiting for his stats to agree to them. He has a very nice all around game and if he can get the defense up a tad he could be very special.

The Atlanta Hawks drafted Julius Crum as the 6th pick in the 2023 draft. Crum is a defensive specialist having little shot of showing any promise developing his offensive game. Crum’s only category to improve in TC was his defense. His preseason stats were not all in all great but they will do. As his notes said he will need help developing his shot blocking which is evident in only half a block per 16 minutes of play. We will see how he develops over the years but he looks to be very one sided.

Coleman looks to be a pretty complete SF besides his inability to rebound. 2.1 rebounds in 14 minutes of play is not desirable. Given more minutes his blocks and steals look to be good but as his notes mentioned he could have turnover troubles. In 14 minutes of play he already has 1.1 turnovers.

As previously mentioned, improving rebounding is not a major concern for the PG position due to this category being capped. Rhodes played extensive minutes for the Magic in preseason and scored 9 PPG and also made an impact on the glass with over 4 rebounds. His assists need major improvement if he is to stay at the PG position. Rhodes did shoot 1.000% from the FT line and also played defense well.

His scoring attributes are nothing great but I am interested in seeing his defensive abilities as well as rebounding. Springer maintained his A scouted so we will see in a TC or two what type of player he will become.

His low turnovers and high %’s are a nice indication.

In preseason Nicholas played in limited minutes and scored 4 points and snagged 3 rebounds a game. I would like to see his defensive stats improve and hopefully he isn’t a turnover whore.
