Hindsight 20/17
1.
Draft Time: Chace Cabrera PF 6'7'' 223 20 B C+ C+ C+ B A
Thoughts: There was a player that was projected to be above the rest and that player was Chace. There's some other nice player in the draft but none with a high chance of being a franchise type player like chase is projected to be. The Bulls got themselves a great player in the future. Probably a 22/12 type player in the prime of his career it seems. Unless he somehow majorly busts i don't think we'll be questioning this pick any time soon.
Career Average: 16.5 ppg 12.6 rpg
Hindsight: Ehh, for the most part Chace has been a mild disappointment and is on the verge of being overshadowed by his rookie brother already. Don't get me wrong, he's been a solid player on some good teams and what not but he never really became a perennial all star type player like we all probably thought he'd become. The best part of his game up until now has been his rebounding, everything else has been pretty average. At least up until this year where he surpassed the 20 ppg plateau for the first time in his career.
2.
Draft Time: Antonio Prince SG 6'7'' 187 20 C B+ C- B+ C- A
Thoughts: Dude looks like a stud and his notes didn't really do much to dispel that notion. My big concern with this pick is his inside game. I guess it's just preference but i don't like players with that low inside unless they're playing point guard. His notes label him as someone with "outstanding potential" and a heck of a defensive player in the future and also chip in 20 ppg. That's pretty sick, but i've seen guys that look like this turn out pretty bad. Solid pick, not one i'm totally in love with.
Career Average: 22.6 ppg 5.9 rpg raptors
Hindsight: Love the pick in hindsight. Antonio turned out to be a sick player and my view on him changed so quickly that i actually traded for him after his rookie season i believe and he had some sick years on some championship caliber years. His production has fallen off some over the last couple years but his 26 ppg seasons in the prime of his career are hard to overlooked. I haven't even addressed his sick defensive ability either. Dude ended up being arguably the best all around player selected in the lotto.
3.
Draft Time: Marcus Hoover PF 6'9'' 195 19 C+ C+ B- B C+ A
Thoughts: Meh, i didn't really get this pick at all to be honest. Yea, he's young but those ratings looks like he will become a good gimmick player at best. I'll admit, i kind of liked him at first. His passing and defense are very enticing adding the fact dude projected to be an excellent shotblocker as broph put it. I probably would have taken one or two players before taking hoover though to be honest. If he booms, he can be the best player in the draft but i think he'll be somewhere between boom and bust.
Career Average: 26.3 mpg 5.5 ppg 7.3 rpg 3.0 bpg
Hindsight: He's not the caliber of player you really look to take in the top 3 but dude turned out pretty nice, at least defensively. Marcus has been a sick shot blocker over the course of his career, but no other part of his game really developed. Traves was right when he called this dude a future role player in the notes thread. I honestly thought he'd become a little more, but he's just one of the many disappointments.
4.
Draft Time: Abram Rogers C 6'9'' 265 20 B- C C B- B- A
Thoughts: I like the pick here. The rich get richer. The rockets keep their team among the elite and still manage to have these lotto picks in their back pocket. First Richard Ledo, now Abram Rogers. If this dude develops, he can be a player(like Ledo) to make this team literally unstoppable. John Wall, Richard Ledo, Dwight Howard, Meyers Leonard and Abram Rogers could be a sick starting 5 potentially. Who are these scrub gm's that keep trading these picks to Kru?
Career Average: 11.8 ppg 10.6 rpg 2.2 bpg
Hindsight: Well, thank you jesus he never became the star he had the potential to be. After his first couple tc's he looked like a star in the making but he leveled out and became a very good starting piece. Not the star the Rockets probably hoped for, but a good player nonetheless. His rebounding and defense have been pretty good over the course of his career, but his offense never really developed. He maxed out in his 3rd year with 14.2 ppg. He's a minor disappointment cause of what he could have become, but he's a nice player anyways.
5.
Draft Time: Tripp Guerra SF 6'6'' 234 18 C C+ C+ B B- A
Thoughts: I don't know what to make of this pick. He seems like a big time boom or bust pick and given the other options, that might not be such a bad route to take here. He reminds me a lot of Tornike from the past league so I have a little soft spot for Tripp and i kind of like the pick the more i think about it. He's raw as fuck, but he's only 18 so i wouldn't be shocked to see his offense vastly improve from that C C+ over his first few years. The Magic are going to have to be really patient with him though unless they plan to flip him for something more proven. If given time, he can be a stud.
Career Average: 28.9 mpg 12.0 ppg 7.4 rpg por
Hindsight: This ended up being a great pick. Like i predicted, if he was going to develop the gm was going to have to be patient with him as it would take him a while to fufill his potential but it looks like he's worth it now. He changed teams a lot in the early stages of his career as no one seem to have the patience necessary to nurture him, but the Blazers have gotten him back and are now reaping the benefits. His rebounding and defense are great at his position and he has turned himself into an all star and is still only 27.
6.
Draft Time: Messiah Walker PG 6'1'' 188 21 C B- B C+ C- A
Thoughts: As i said earlier, i hate taking guys with C inside unless they're point guards and Messiah fits that description. That being said, i kind of like the pick considering everyone at this point seems like a bust or stud. The notes say that he'll be a solid starter in time and that's about all you can ask for right now in my opinion. Maybe he can become more, but i think he'll be a pretty good backup point on a great team in his prime.
Career Average: 18.5 mpg 5.6 ppg 4.0 apg 2.3 rpg 1.7 topg
Hindsight: Well, he's been solid i guess in backup minutes but his turnovers are a little too high for someone getting that little minutes. His ability to distribute is pretty good and his ratings nowadays don't look too bad to be honest. I've seen guys average 20/9 on those type of ratings but he's currently an FA and someone will probably bid on him with the intention of using him as a backup. Nothing more. Could have done better with this pick it seems.
7.
Draft Time: Caiden Garner PG 5'10'' 160 19 C B+ C+ C D- A
Thoughts: Ummm, big difference between garner and the previous pick. Messiah looks considerably better and taken just one spot ahead so i kind of hate this pick right here. A big difference is there age i guess and that could be the only difference garner needs to end up better than walker. He looks raw as fuck and isn't really good at anything other than shooting. His handling is sub par, his defense is pretty whack and his inside is nothing he can't overcome, but sub-par nonetheless. Maybe with a lot of luck he can be really good, but i'm going to project him as a career backup.
Career Average: 26.4 mpg 9.2 ppg 6.0 apg rockets
Hindsight: Well, he never blew up but that was always going to be a longshot anyways. He did become better than i initially expected though. He ended up being better than just a career backup in the prime of his career starting for 3 different teams. His ratings are decent now, but like a lot of these guys for some reason, he's an FA and i doubt he'll get signed by anyone looking for a starting PG. He's probably more of a backup at this point. He ended up being a better distributor than i thought he'd become.
8.
Draft Time: Gauge Dean PF 6'11'' 233 20 B- C- C- B C A
Thoughts: I absolutely hate drafting bigs with a C in any big man category unless i'm picking a defensive specialist in the mid to late first round range so it's safe to say i don't really like this pick. If his rebounding were C+ i'd like him to go considerably sooner than this but it's not. It seems like only a small difference but it is what it is and i think the Bucks drafted a mid 1st caliber player in the middle of the lotto, oh well. If he turns into something good, imma look retarded though.
Now: Nowhere to be found
Hindsight: I'm not even going to act like i know how he turned out. Maybe he's lurking there somewhere and i just missed him. I couldn't find him though so i'm going to assume he didn't do shit.
9.
Draft Time: Deacon Boyer C 7'4'' 308 20 B- D+ D C+ C+ A
Thoughts: As dumb as this might sounds, considering he's only +1 reb and -2 def, i like boyer a lot more than Dean. Height don't mean shit in fbb so i'm not even gonna act like the 7'4'' is appealing but his age and perceived potential are intriguing. He has a red flag in his notes, which are his knees but it seems like it's just a fake little concern to keep you from picking him in my opinion. I think he'll be a solid 12/10 guy with the potential to become more maybe. Chances are i fail and he ends up sucking though.
Career Average: 29.2 mpg 12.1 ppg 9.0 rpg 2.8 bpg
Hindsight: Well damn, i was almost spot on with my number projections but i didn't expect him to become a stud defender like he turned out being. Another Free Agent of the bunch, he has averaged almost 3 bpg in a little less than starting minutes which is pretty impressive. A lot of gm's would take that from one of their starting bigs. He's averaged over 3 bpg in every season in which he's started so he's great for anyone looking to acquire a defensive presence this offseason.
10.
Draft Time: Carlo Deleon SF 6'11'' 237 21 C+ C+ C- B C A
Thoughts: He looks like a boom or bust type to be honest but i'm going to lean towards bust considering he's already 21. You'd typically like to see these ratings on a 19 years old or something, but this is just too raw for a 21 year old. Unless Broph went ape shit with his potential i don't see him really becoming anything more than a open fa signing to fill out the roster or something. He's tall and all, but the fact he doesn't use that height to rebound well is concerning. IDK, just seems like too much of a hassle to develop into anything good.
Now: RIP aka sucked
Hindsight: A boom or bust type that busted. He ended up killing himself. Lotto pick #2 by the bucks that didn't pan out in this draft, sucks.
11.
Draft Time: Brendon Wilson PF 7'0'' 267 23 C F D A- B B
Thoughts: I absolutely love this pick. This guy looks like he can come in right away and immediately have an impact on the defensive end. His outside is horrible but if you're drafting him and expect him to play any kind of role on offense, you have problems. lol. I see him being A- A- in the future at the very least which is as solid as it gets at this point in the draft unless you hit a homerun with a boom or bust type here. Great pick, solid player.
Career Average: 22.9 mpg 4.1 ppg 7.7 rpg
Hindsight: He ended up being alright. As you can see, he never really got the playing time to deserve too much mentioning. i expected him to be a starter for the majority of his career as a defensive specialist but that never came to fruition. His rebounding ended up being pretty good and you can say that maybe even his offensive production exceeded expecations. The draft started with a lot of promise for the bucks and they didn't really come out of the draft with that impact player you hoped they could get with at least one of these picks. A solid pick i guess, but nothing special.
12.
Draft Time: Jonas Jordan SF 6'5'' 233 24 C A- C+ C+ C+ B
Thoughts: Ehhh, i guess if he gets a +1 or +2 here and there in some tc's, he could be a steal at this point but i hate taking shooters who have nothing else to offer. I can see him reasonably becoming C+ A B in inside, outside, defense and that would make this a solid pick. I don't think those ratings are unreasonable with some camping at the very least so i'm not really going to knock the pick. It's a solid pick, but i would have taken a risk elsewhere. I mean, jonas is already 24, ugggh. This shit's ugly.
Career Average: 22.9 mpg 9.2 ppg 5.1 rpg
Hindsight: Weird, a lot of the guys in this lotto played for the rockets this past season lol. Crazy. Well, dude didn't exactly blow nuts so it ended up being a pretty decent pick. He's considerably close to averaging double figures over the course of his career and his rebounding is pretty good given his position. He played some key roles on some nice teams early in his career but he never really became a starting caliber player. He didn't even play this season for the rockets and they're a tanking team LOL. He's nothing more than a vet fa signing at this point.
13.
Draft Time: Diego Bowman SG 6'2'' 192 22 B+ C D+ C C- A
Thoughts: Meh, this guy is fucking garbage for reals. Idk if uk or Lumley made this pick but shit's horrible. Dude is undersized, he's older and more experienced and he's not even developed like a 22 year old should be. His handling sucks, his defense sucks, his rebounding even sucks. I guess he can maybe with a shit load of luck maybe one day become a sick offensive threat but i wouldn't count in it.
Now: killed himself
Hindsight: Another guy with no production to talk about or accolades to mention. He looked like a possible steal at the time but he just ended up being a bonafide scrub. He's no longer in the league and i don't think i remember him doing anything.
