Well, Crawford's still good. I think a 6 or 7 year contract is too much, but the Red Sox can afford anything. They are really smart. The Yankees are getting old. The Rays lost many key players this off-season.

As a Yanks fan, I am honestly more worried about AGone than Crawford. Because of Yankees Stadium? lol

Crawford could have gotten more considering the werth deal but idk. I thought the money would be more considering he decided to sign before lee.

Hmm the move seems a little rushed to me. Its a big contract, but part of me thinks it was a matter of Crawford getting impatient with Lee falling into place... For instance, I think once Lee signs, the 2-3 teams bidding on him would have freaked out and tried to make a splash/save face with Crawford. Thanks to the Nationals for making other teams overpay.

To me, he is Tex, only with more power and more consistent. He also gives the Sox more flexibility on what to do with Youk. I guess, this at least allows me to further my point on the Yanks not being the only team to loathe for spending

Lulz @ Spencer...
Crawford signing is right where it should be. Werth didn't price anyone out. The contract was so ridiculous that it backfired on Crawford. People saw it as an overpay so Crawford couldn't ask for much more. Sucks as a Yanks fan though. All the pressure on Lee now. Heard he might choose as early as tomorrow or as late as the end of the meetings. If we don't get him, look for Russell Martin (who is looking likely anyways) and high risk signings like Webb, Prior, etc. Would love to see what Webb has left in the tank. Groundball pitcher in Yankee Stadium... yes please!

Better believe we will get either Lee, Grienke, or another top flight pitcher come D/L.
Crawford's def will be wasted in front of the monster

It's hard to imagine anyone playing LF in Fenway better than Manny did.

It may change, but Crawford was reported to have said he only wants to play LF, not CF. Then again, if I was getting paid 20 mill per, I would consider playing wherever the fuck the team needed me
